What To Do When You Break Out Right Before Your Wedding Day?

September 15, 2022

Your wedding day is fast approaching (yay!), and while you’re busy with the millions of final preparations, the last thing you need to focus on is a breakout! Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered, literally. If your skin decides to act up right before your big day, try not to stress it. (And yes, we totally understand that is much easier said than done!) So, to help you, we’ve included some of our best acne tips for brides below!

Consult a Professional ASAP

If you’re experiencing skin problems or have concerns, meet with a licensed dermatologist or esthetician near you as soon as possible! They can provide you with professional advice and treatments tailored to your skin’s needs, ensuring you (and your skin!) look absolutely flawless on your wedding day. A professional can also recommend specific products and routines that will be most effective for your skin type. Starting this process early allows ample time for any treatments to work and for your skin to adjust!

Stick to Your Skincare Routine

It’s absolutely crucial that you do not make any changes to your skincare routine or try new products or procedures within three months of your wedding day. Sudden changes can lead to unexpected reactions and/or worsen any current skin issues. Consistency will help maintain the balance your skin has achieved, reducing the risk of last-minute breakouts. If you’re unsure about any product, it’s best to consult with a skincare professional rather than experimenting close to your big day!

The Benefits of Retinol

We’re big fans of retinol cream, especially when it comes to acne prevention! If you have experience using retinol and have received positive results, start incorporating it into your routine at least six months before your wedding! Retinol can help keep your skin clear and smooth. If you haven’t used retinol before, consult with a licensed dermatologist as soon as possible to see if it’s a good option for you and to learn how to use it properly!

If you do have acne concerns, we recommend reaching out to a licensed dermatologist at least a year prior to your wedding day. This timeframe will give retinol, and any other products, enough time to fully clear up your skin and hopefully heal any pre-existing acne scars!

Manage Stress

We know it’s annoying (and kind of impossible) to say don’t stress leading up to your wedding day, but it’s true – stress can majorly contribute to breakouts. Try to stay as calm as possible (annoying, we know!). Incorporate stress-reducing activities like yoga, meditation, or even regular walks into your routine (or maybe a glass of wine!). Keeping your stress levels in check will largely help your skin and your overall well-being, especially in the days leading up to your big day!

Additional Tricks for Breakouts

If you do break out, there are a few additional tricks you can try. Ice your face or pimples on the days leading up to your wedding day to reduce inflammation and redness. Use acne patches, but only if you know they help you and your skin tolerates them well! Also, use face masks that are known to help your unique skin heal. These small steps can make a big difference in calming your skin before the big day.

What Do I Do If I Break Out Before My Wedding Day?

Breakouts before your wedding day can be stressful, but with the right approach, you can manage and minimize their impact. Always seek professional help, stick to your skincare routine, consider retinol, manage your stress, and use additional tricks if needed.
